Mentone Woman, 34, Charged With Attempted Murder Of A Police Officer

REDLANDS (CBSLA.com) — A 34-year-old Mentone woman has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed a police officer in the leg.

Officials responded to a call of a suicidal woman at a medical facility in the 700 block of Nevada Street in Redlands about 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

The officer's stab wound is not considered life-threatening.

As officers attempted to take the woman -- identified as Susan Kimberly Reynolds Hollon --  into custody, they said she became increasingly combative.

A struggle ensued and during the altercation, the woman reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed one officer in the leg.

The officer was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. He was treated for his leg wound and released the same day.
