Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Aug. 21)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — The long, long wait is over. Finally a break from the heat!

We are anticipating the beginning of a cool down for the next few days. Lancaster may break its run of 22 straight days above 100 degrees! We already have a more extensive marine layer this morning...and that will help to bring those scorching daytime highs down just a bit.

Valley highs should be into the 90s today. There is still a little mid level moisture moving through the area...that combined with a little lift is going to give us a chance for a thunderstorm late today and overnight.

The trough moves through tomorrow and that's when our temperatures will bottom out in the low 80s for the basin and low 90s for the valleys (that's a ten degree drop from the beginning of the week for the valleys).

We will start to rebound back just a bit as we head into the weekend. We are expecting a moderate warm up again. Probably not hitting the century mark for valleys...but certainly into the upper 90s.

Beaches - mid 70s
Basin -mid 80s
Valleys - mid 90s
Deserts - upper 90s
Mountains - low 80s
