Cat Missing For 2 Years Reunited With Palmdale Owners

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — A cat that's been missing for two years has been returned to its owners, thanks to an implanted microchip.

Janus, a 7-year-old American Shorthair mix, was brought to the county-run shelter in Castaic after someone picked her up in the 26000 block of Rainbow Glen Drive in Santa Clarita.

At the shelter, a microchip was found on Janus, but the owner's information was outdated. Staffers were able to find an updated listing for the owner in Palmdale.

"We love to hear stories about animals being reunited with their owners," said Marcia Mayeda, head of the Department of Animal Care and Control. "This serves as a good reminder for pet parents to remember to update their contact information for their pets' microchips and licenses. It makes all the difference."
