PACOIMA (CBS) — Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman at the San Fernando Gardens housing project in Pacoima.

A passerby called police around 2:30 a.m. Monday to report that someone had been assaulted at Lehigh Avenue and Carl Street, Sgt. K. Edgell of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Station said.

When officers and Los Angeles firefighters arrived, they found a naked woman in her 20s dead on the sidewalk.

Police say there were no apparent trauma to her body and have not determined a cause of death.

Her identity was not released.

The death is being investigated as a homicide. An autopsy was pending.
