MALIBU (CBS) — Police held two car thief suspects at gunpoint along the Pacific Coast Highway Saturday tying up heavy beach traffic on the PCH, according to authorities.
Deputies stopped the suspected stolen vehicle about 10:15 a.m. on the PCH near Tuna Canyon Road, said Sgt. Bela Denkinger of the sheriff’s Lost Hills station. That location is just inside the Malibu city limits.
“Witnesses said they saw some suspects break into a vehicle,” Denkinger said. “We were able to find the car. We’re still investigating to see if anything was taken. We’re trying to contact the informants and the victim.”
Los Angeles police were called in for back-up to the incident, about 1-1/2 mile west of the L.A. city limit, and an LAPD helicopter also went to the scene.
