FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — A Garden Grove man was sentenced to two years in prison Friday for beating his disabled roommate, who can’t verbally communicate.

Richard Vu Nguyen, 45, was convicted in June of a felony count of dependent adult abuse for the attack involving his female roommate, who has Down syndrome.

Last March, the victim’s family set up a surveillance camera in the woman’s bedroom because they believed she was being abused.

According to prosecutors, Nguyen went into his roommate’s room and kicked her in the head and chest.
