The iPet Companion installation was sponsored by KONG. The company's motto is "pets need to play."
Users can watch the cats play on a live video stream.
"The cameras rotate and focuses on toys, which are activated by users on the website," said Schanz. "They can move the camera, zoom the camera, zoom into a toy or into a cat."
Adoption centers that have already installed the systems have reported higher cat adoption rates, increased donations, increased web traffic, and positive media coverage within their communities.
