$50K Reward Offered To Solve Deadly Koreatown Stabbing

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles City Council announced a $50,000 reward Thursday for information leading to an arrest in the deadly stabbing of a 25-year-old man in Koreatown.

On April 10, police found Samuel Michel stabbed to death at Sir Francis Drake Apartments on 841 South Serrano Avenue.

He had suffered stab wounds to his head and the knife was found still lodged in his back.

Detectives said the apartment complex had security video, but reported the cameras weren't working on the night of the murder.

Several people, however, called authorities after hearing items being thrown and a man screaming coming from Michel's apartment.

Witnesses reported seeing a man wearing a white tank top leaving the area on a bike. Police are looking to question him and anyone else who may have information.

"There's a very dangerous person walking around the streets of Los Angeles," said the victim's mother, Debra.

She said her son fell in love with the city of Los Angeles and made it his home.

"Griffith Park was his favorite place, he liked the second hand clothing stores, he loved the taco trucks, and he loved all of his friends," said Debra.

Known to loved ones as Sam, his friends and family called him a true artist.  He was a writer, a graphic designer, outdoor enthusiast and a musician.
