Hidden Camera Found In Unisex Dressing Room At Mission Viejo Gap Store

MISSION VIEJO (CBSLA.com) — Orange County sheriff's investigators are looking into who hid camera that was found in a dressing room at a clothing store at the Shops at Mission Viejo.

An employee at the Gap store in the mall found the hidden camera on Saturday afternoon, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.

The camera – which is a half-inch by two inches and resembles a thumb drive – was attached to a black, wooden picture frame containing advertisements that was placed in the dressing room, he said.

Sheriff's deputies have the camera at a crime lab to see if it contains any images, Amormino said.

"Investigators are unsure if a customer or an employee may have hid the camera in the unisex dressing room, Amormino said.

Surveillance camera footage for the mall and the store were being checked for clues, he said.

Gap issued this statement:

"The safety and security of our customers and employees is our utmost priority. We at Gap Inc. were concerned by the discovery in our Mission Viejo Gap store, and immediately notified law enforcement to ensure a prompt investigation. We conduct privacy assurance audits of our stores, and have intensified these audits in the surrounding stores. We believe this to be an unfortunate and isolated incident."
