Actress Mayim Bialik Recovering Following Hollywood Crash

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Actress Mayim Bialik, best known for playing "Blossom," was seriously injured Wednesday following a car accident in Hollywood.

Bialik, 36, was hit by another car at the corner of La Brea Avenue at Hollywood Boulevard shortly before noon.

The longtime actress hurt her left hand and thumb when the airbags deployed in her car because of the collision, according to Officer Karen Rayner.

The passengers in the other car suffered minor cuts.

"I think they were excited about being in Hollywood," said Rayner. "They weren't paying attention, were sightseeing and that's what caused the collision."

Police said no arrests were made.

Danny Deleon witnessed the accident right outside his pizza restaurant in Hollywood.

"It was a hard impact because you could see the fact that she was hurt and in distress," he said.

Bialik's husband posted on her Twitter page that his wife will keep all of her fingers.

The actress currently stars on CBS' "The Big Bang Theory." She was nominated this year for a supporting actress Emmy for playing a neuroscientist.

Online reports said she should be back on set Thursday.

Bialik holds a degree in neuroscience from UCLA and has written a book on parenting.

She rose to fame playing the title character on NBC's "Blossom" from 1990-1995.
