Only On CBS2: Family Pleads For Help Finding Missing Diver

PALOS VERDES (CBSLA.com) — Divers are combing the waters off the Palos Verdes Peninsula for a missing diver.

Rebecca Weiss, 50, has been missing since Saturday after she went snorkeling off the sands of the Terranea Resort.

"She's not a stranger to the water. She lives in the water. So, that's why we're so shocked that this happened to her, that we cannot find her, if she did went snorkeling," Weiss' sister-in-law Rina Causey told CBS2.

Weiss was last seen leaving her condominium in Marina Del Rey Saturday before she allegedly went snorkeling.

When Weiss didn't return home Saturday night her husband told police that he went to look for her at the beach. He said he found her belongings on the sand and her car in the parking lot.

"We had calm seas, the temperature -- both the air and the water -- was warm. My sister was wearing a wetsuit and she's a strong swimmer,"

Weiss' husband has declined requests for an interview. Detectives said everyone has been cooperating with the investigation.

The diver's brother and sister-in-law went on-camera to plead for help in finding her.

"Rebecca, please come home. Contact us. Let us know you're OK," Causey said, in a public plea.

Anyone with information was asked to call the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.
