SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — A wrong-way driver allegedly caused a fiery crash on the westbound 210 freeway in Sylmar Tuesday night.

The California Highway Patrol reports the driver of a red Mercedes was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway when the person reportedly crashed into the center divider near Polk Avenue.

Officials report at least three cars were involved in the accident.

At one point, the wrong-way driver’s car was on fire and exploded, but crews quickly put out the flames.

The driver has been transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
