Man Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing His Grandmother

PICO RIVERA (CBSLA.com) — A 76-year-old woman was in critical condition Friday after she was stabbed at her Pico Rivera home.

The stabbing took place around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 5500 block of Bridgeview Avenue, Lt. J Mendoza of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

"The grandfather immediately called 9-1-1 after he walked into a front room of the residence and discovered his wife had been stabbed numerous times by their live-in 22 year-old grandson, Joseph Torres," Mendoza said.

When deputies arrived, they arrested Torres, who was on the front porch of the home.

"The deputies also recovered the knife that was used in the stabbing from a basket located on the porch," Mendoza said.

Deputies say an argument between Torres and the woman may have led to the stabbing.

Torres is being held on $1.01 million bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
