UCLA's Jim Mora Says Remarks On Campus Safety Wasn't A Shot At USC

SAN BERNARDINO (CBS) - UCLA football head coach Jim Mora is feeling the heat Thursday and it has nothing to do with the weather at training camp in San Bernardino.

It stems from comments he made on the Roger Lodge radio show Wednesday morning talking about the UCLA campus.

"UCLA is one of the greatest schools in the world, not just America, the world, said the head coach on the show. " It's a safe, beautiful campus in a great area of town. We didn't have murders a block away from the campus."

Much speculation was said that he was referring to the two grad students that were killed near the campus at USC in a random act of violence.

"I just said our campus is safe, said Mora." I didn't say anything about anyone elses campus. If anybody, whether USC or Cal State San Bernardino is offended by the statement then that's their insecurity, not mine."
