Passenger Traffic Increases At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The amount of passengers flying to and from Los Angeles International Airport increased during the first six months of 2012 compared to the same time last year.

Airport officials report more than 30 million passengers, up from 29.9 million in 2011, flew through LAX from January to June.

International traffic was also up 4.6 percent since last year, and domestic traffic increased one percent.

Air cargo rose 5.4 percent in the first six months of 2012. It went from 915,147 tons to 964,360 tons.

LAX is the third busiest airport in the country.
