Family, Friends Greet Returning Soldiers Of California National Guard

LOS ALAMITOS (CBSLA.com) — More than 130 members of the California National Guard returned home Wednesday after spending a year overseas.

The soldiers from the 756th Transportation Company deplaned at the Joint Forces Training Base where they were greeted by family and friends, who were waiting with welcome home signs, hugs, and kisses.

The guardsmen provided critical logistical support for "Operation Enduring Freedom."

They faced the constant threat of roadside attacks, but that's all behind them now.

"It's not very fun being away from my family, but it's pretty awesome now," said one soldier.

The 2,900 California National Guard soldiers have deployed in support of operations in Afghanistan since Sept. 11.
