LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police have stepped up patrols at Sikh temples in Southern California following the deadly attack on a temple in Wisconsin.
Additional patrols were ordered Monday at four temples in Los Angeles, one in suburban Alhambra and one in the Orange County community of Buena Park.
No serious threats had been reported but police say they are in touch with temple officials and the patrols will continue until concerns about safety ease.
A gunman identified as a former Army veteran opened fire on a Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee on Sunday, killing five people before police fatally shot him.
Concerns about copycats frequently prompt extra security at schools and churches in the wake of such attacks.
