Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Aug. 6)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — The "dog days" of summer our upon us.

The trough of low pressure that was over head at the end of last week is lifting to the north and high pressure is expanding into the area. This dome of hot air will remain in place for a good portion of this work week.

It will be a warmer day Monday, pretty much everywhere. Beaches will still stay mild as there is an 800 foot marine layer this morning. However, inland temperatures are looking at 10 to 15 degree jump in daytime highs.

As the high pressure parks itself over the southwest, we will watch for the possibility of monsoonal moisture surging up, however it doesn't look like that will happen until next weekend. There is a weak off-shore flow this morning so watch out for some gusty winds along the I-5 corridor.

Beaches - mid to upper 70s
Basin -upper 80s to near 90
Valleys - upper 90s to 100
Deserts - low 100s
Mountains - low 80s
