BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have confirmed that an FBI agent who had been missing for more than two months committed suicide.
Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter said 35-year-old Stephen Ivens died “from a self-inflicted wound.”
Ivens’ gun was found near his body when it was discovered July 30 in the 3600 block of Scott Road in Burbank. Ivens was last seen May 10 near his home in the 1700 block of Scott Road.
His family conducted a series of public events in recent weeks to keep the search for Ivens active.
FBI Special Agent Steve Gomez said earlier that Ivens, who worked in counter-terrorism, was “distraught” and possibly suicidal when he disappeared.
