LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An off-duty LAPD motorcycle officer injured Sunday in a hit-and-run accident in Santa Clarita has been identified.
Officer Anderson Boyce was injured on the 5 Freeway at Lyons Avenue.
Boyce was on his way to a second job directing traffic at the Hollywood Bowl when he was side-swiped by a vehicle. He ended up near the center divider.
His left leg bore the major impact of the crash.
An officer on the scene told CBS2 and KCAL9 that Boyce was alert and conscious when paramedics arrived.
Boyce was treated at a nearby hospital with leg injuries.
The officer told Art Barron that he feared he would be hit by a second vehicle.
“There is still a lot of pain to my knee,” he said, “but it could have been worse.”
Boyce, on crutches, also told Barron, “I have a pretty good abrasion on my left knee. And more or less complaint of injury to my lower extremities on both sides.”
Witnesses said the suspects, a man and woman in their 20s, fled the scene in a 2005-6 Mustang, dark-colored.
Said Boyce, “I’m very hopeful they will find these folks.”
