Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck By Car In Bermuda Dunes

BERMUDA DUNES (CBS) — A 44-year-old bicyclist was killed Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in Bermuda Dunes, a county fire department spokeswoman said.

A second cyclist the victim was riding with was also struck but not seriously injured.

Mark Ledbetter, of La Quinta, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The accident was reported at 7:04 a.m. in the 79900 block of Country Club Drive, just west of Avenue 42, said Jody Hagemann of the fire department.

It was not immediately known if the motorist was cited or arrested. Indio police were called in to temporarily close part of Country Club Drive near the Bermuda Dunes Airport, according to the CHP.
