Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (July 31)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — The broken record forecast continues with some minor variations.

The marine layer continues to run between 1000' and 1500' deep. Our coastal areas will continue to enjoy the mild weather with temperatures running just a little bit below average.

Like Monday we will clear out the area for sunny skies this afternoon. Valleys will still stay warm as a ridge of high pressure remains parked over the southern half of the state. This high pressure center is helping to keep our monsoonal moisture waiting in the wings. The western reaches of San Bernardino and Riverside County will have the threat of thunderstorms this afternoon. That threat will last through the rest of the week. It appears though...this activity should remain out of the metro area (if the models hold up).

By the end Friday and Saturday the high moves on and inland areas will enjoy slightly cooler temperatures, before everything heats up again over the weekend and next week.

Beaches - low 70s
Basin -low 80s
Valleys - mid to upper 90s
Deserts - near 100
Mountains -mid 70s
