Panorama City Resident Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash

PANORAMA CITY (CBS) — A pedestrian crossing a street in Panorama City was struck and critically injured by a white pickup truck that fled the scene after the crash.

The accident at Parthenia Street and Orion Avenue occurred about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles Police Department-Valley Traffic Division.

"A possible Chevrolet, white pickup truck, with orange racing stripes, traveling eastbound on Parthenia Street, crossing Orion Avenue, collided with a pedestrian crossing southbound on the east crosswalk,"  the statement read. "The truck's driver failed to stop."

The victim, identified as a 36-year-old man from Panorama City, was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Police described the driver of the truck as a bald, heavy-set Hispanic male.  He is believed to be between 20 to 35 years old.

According to police, the vehicle sustained major front-end damage and a broken windshield toward the passenger side.
