LA QUINTA (CBS) — Authorities say two men tried to drown a 63-year-old resident during a home invasion in La Quinta.
The incident occurred Friday in the 47000 block of Dancing Butterfly and was reported Saturday, said sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Tapp.
“The victim was inside the bathroom when he heard noises in the kitchen,” Tapp said. “The victim was approached by two male adults who attacked the victim and then tried to drown the victim in the bathtub.”
The man resisted and the intruders ran away from the residence in an unknown direction. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, Tapp said.
The suspects were described as Hispanic male adults.
One of them was 25-30 years old, 5-feet-11, 210 pounds, heavy-set, wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans with dark hair, medium complexion and wearing dark gloves.
The other was 20-25 years old, 5-feet-9, 165 pounds, thin build with brown hair, brown eyes and wearing blue jeans with black gloves.
Investigators asked anyone with information to call the Thermal station at (760) 863-8990. Anonymous tips can be left through Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867, or by e-mail at ThermalStation@RiversideSheriff.org.
