Man Struck By Car In Moreno Valley Succumbs To His Wounds
MORENO VALLEY (CBS) — A 21-year-old man struck by a car while running across a street in Moreno Valley succumbed to his wounds, a sheriff's spokesman said Saturday.
Sheriff's Sgt. Lee Tainter says the accident on Perris Boulevard just south of Filaree Avenue occurred about 11:45 p.m. Friday.
The victim, identified by the coroner's office as Daylon Woods of Moreno Valley, was struck by a car and thrown onto the sidewalk.
A news release issued by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department says that officers believe the victim had run across the street and into the path of a southbound vehicle.
Woods was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center with multiple fractures and a head injury.
He was declared dead at 5:57 a.m., according to police and the county coroner.
An investigation was under way.
