REDONDO BEACH (CBS) — A 58-year-old Redondo Beach man was fatally struck by a vehicle while waiting at a bus stop Saturday, police said.

The accident at Artesia Boulevard and Mackay Lane occurred about 9:15 a.m. when at least two cars collided, Redondo Beach police Sgt. Jeff Mendence said.

“One of the involved vehicles left the roadway and struck a 58-year-old Redondo Beach resident at a bus bench located near the southeast portion of the intersection,” he stated.

The victim, whose name was withheld, was declared dead at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Anyone who saw the accident was asked to call traffic Investigator Bill Turner at (310) 379-2477.
