WOODCREST (CBS) — A 30-year-old Woodcrest man was killed and another man wounded in a shootout, a sheriff’s department spokesman said.
The incident began about 11:45 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 24600 block of Tava Lane when an argument led to an exchange of gunfire that left Brandon Nace dead, said sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Reno.
Deputies believe Nace initially shot and wounded Michael Rocha during the disagreement, and that Devon Wingo, 28, described as a friend of Rocha, returned fire and hit Nace, Reno said.
Nace fled, but deputies found him near the scene of the shooting, where he was pronounced dead, according to the sergeant.
Rocha, 26, of Woodcrest, was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition with injuries that were not life-threatening, Reno said.
“At this time, no arrests have been made, and this is an active and ongoing investigation,” he said.
