Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (July 24)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — The onshore flow continues Tuesday morning. Its keeping a marine layer by the beach and temperatures moderated inland.

Southern California is situated around several different weather features right now ...and not one of them is truly winning out. We have high pressure to the south, a trough of low pressure to the north and high pressure in the midwest. The net result for us: daytime highs in the basin slightly below average and highs in the valleys and high desert near average or just a little above.

We have a marine layer in place that will burn off in the morning for the basin, but some beach cities will have a tough time breaking out of the clouds. This pattern remains in place at least through Thursday. So expect consistent weather.

As we make our way into the weekend, the trough moves to the east which will allow the high pressure to dominate. That should translate into a warmer weekend ...especially inland.

Beaches - low 70s
Basin -upper 70s to low 80s
Valleys - mid 90s
Deserts - near 100
Mountains -mid 70s
