ANAHEIM (CBS) The Angels and Rays are discussing a trade that could send Rays’ James Shields to Anaheim in exchange for Peter Bourjos , catcher Hank Conger and pitcher Ervin Santana, says ESPN.com
The deal is reportedly “complicated” since the deal requires Angels to send money to the Rays, unless they include Santana in the trade, who makes $11.2 million this season and $13 million club option for 2013.
Center fielder Bourjos will likely be the replacement, if traded, for B.J. Upton, who the Rays expect to release him to free agency.
Tigers are also trying to Shields.
