HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBS) — With summer weather drying out the hills, Los Angeles County officials are worried that many homeowners are underinsured in case of wildfire.
In the hills between Hacienda Heights and Whittier, Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe urged homeowners near these areas to be prepared when it comes to insurance, KNX 1070’s John Brooks reports.
“And we always talk about being prepared for disaster, whether it be food, water, clearing the brush, but there are other areas that are critical, that we need to be mindful for,” Knabe said.
Officials urge homeowners to cover 100 percent of the cost, in case a homeowner has to rebuild and replace the contents of their homes. In addition, renters’ belongings are not covered by landlords.
