Padres End Trade Rumors With Carlos Quentin, Agree To 3-Year Extension

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Carlos Quentin and the San Diego Padres have agreed to a $27 million, three-year contract covering 2013-15.

Quentin, making $7,025,000 this year under his current deal, gets $9.5 million in each of the next two seasons and $8 million in 2015. The contract includes a $10 million mutual option for 2016 which would have a $3 million buyout if he has 320 starts or more from 2013-15.

Quentin may not be traded without his consent, a protection that starts immediately.

The Padres announced the deal on Sunday.
