SANTA ANA (AP) — A drunken driver who hit five people with his SUV and critically injured a 2-year-old girl in 2010 has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to Orange County prosecutors.
Spokeswoman Farrah Emami said 44-year-old Miguel Angel Sandoval was sentenced Friday after being convicted by a jury June 5 of felony DUI and other crimes.
On Sept. 6, 2010, Sandoval drove onto a Santa Ana sidewalk, hitting 25-year-old pedestrian Claudia G. and her 2-year-old daughter, dragging them under the vehicle before he struck three more people.
Approximately 90 minutes after the crash, Sandoval had a blood alcohol level of .20 percent, more than double the legal limit.
