‘AK-47 Bandit’ Suspected Of Seattle-Area Bank Heists

Suspect Linked To Shooting Of Chino Officer In February Robbery

CHINO (CBS) — The bank robber who shot a Chino police officer during a heist is believed to now be robbing banks in the Seattle area.

The FBI is asking for the public’s help to catch the AK-47 Bandit, who has been linked to three bank robberies. The bandit’s first bank robbery was in Chino on Feb. 29, where he shot and seriously wounded a Chino police officer.

In each robbery, the suspect is armed with an AK-47-style assault rifle with a drum magazine, wearing tactical gear, a full-face ski mask, a blue ballistic vest and/or green mesh vest marked “Sheriff.”

A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the AK-47 Bandit.
