LOS ANGELES (CBS) – A video posted on Twitter last week by Steve Nash shows happy Lakers fans speeding by in a SUV and passing the two-time MVP a can of beer.
“LA, thanks for the warm welcome,” tweeted Nash, who joined the Lakers last week after the team reached a deal with Phoenix Suns.
Long a rival of Kobe Bryant and the Lakers during his 16-year career with Phoenix and the Dallas Mavericks, Nash will now wear No. 10 under a three-year, $27 million contract.
In the 30-second video, several cheering fans are shown waving to the point guard and chanting his name as one of them reaches out from a car window to pass along the can of beer. After the hand-off, the camera video flip around to show a grinning Nash.
“Fans have been pretty good so far,” he said.
