$50,000 Reward Offered In Connection With Mid-City Murder

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A $50,000 reward was offered Thursday in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old security guard, who was shot in Mid-City.

Vada Faniel, a father of five, was fatally shot just before 11 p.m. on July 1 in the 5400 block of Apple Street, according to Los Angeles police.

"He went out of his home to move his car for street cleaning the next day," police said. "The family heard gun fire and found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds."

Faniel was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m., authorities said.

Police have not determined a motive for the crime, and Faniel had no known enemies.

He will be buried Friday at City of Refuge Church in Gardena.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Jim Freund, from the West Bureau Homicide Unit, at (213) 382-9470.
