Sheriff: Man Dies In Rollover Crash After Running Over Wife In SUV

HESPERIA (CBS) — Authorities say a man who ran over his wife in a sport utility vehicle died moments later after driving off Interstate 15.

Kenneth Amaya Jr., 34, was killed Saturday about 2:11 p.m. when he lost control of his gold 2003 GMC Yukon about a mile north of State Route 138, crashed through a metal guardrail and rolled down a steep embankment, the Victorville Daily Press reported. Amaya was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV.

Amaya was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal rollover crash happened just minutes after Amaya was seen getting into SUV and running over his wife after they argued along the side of a road in Hesperia, San Bernardino Sheriff's deputies officials said. The couple argued over a domestic issue, according to the Daily Press.

Amaya's wife, who was not identified, was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
