Cruise, Holmes Reach Divorce Settlement

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have reached a divorce settlement, according to her attorney.

KNX 1070′s Ed Mertz reports attorney Jonathan Wolfe released a statement Monday addressing the settlement.

“The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life,” he said. “We thank Tom’s counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”

“The case is settled. It is done, ” Cruise’s attorney responded.

The couple wed in November 2006 after a whirlwind romance. They have a daughter, Suri, 6.

Holmes filed for divorce on June 28 in New York.

Cruise, 50, and Holmes, 33, also released a joint statement Monday before news of the settlement was announced.

“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests.We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”
