COMPTON (CBS) — A man crashed his car in Compton Sunday evening after being fatally shot by an unknown assailant, sheriff’s officials said.
The fatal shooting was reported at 6:49 p.m. in the 7600 block of Compton Avenue, according to Deputy Mark Pope of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
The victim was driving near the 1500 block of East Florence Avenue when another vehicle pulled up next to him and fired several shots into his car, Pope said.
“The injured man managed to drive to…Compton Avenue…before he was involved in a traffic collision,” Pope said in a statement.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
No further victim or suspect information was available.
