(CBSSports.com) — The O’Malley family, the clan that owned the Dodgers for generations, has won the bidding for the San Diego Padres, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports. CBSSports.com’s Scott Miller first reported that the O’Malleys were emerging as the favorites.

The O’Malleys will pay $800 million to buy the team from outgoing owner John Moores. The sale price includes $200 million for the team’s stake in FOXSports San Diego.
