Punk Rocker Charged With DUI In Studio City Rampage

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — The lead singer of a indie punk rock group was behind bars on Friday for allegedly damaging multiple vehicles while driving drunk in Studio City.

Chaos, whose real name is Karim George Chmielinski, reportedly hit three cars in three separate collisions along Hillslope Street and Laurel Grove Avenue just before 1 a.m., according to LAPD Valley Traffic Division officials.

He reportedly suffered a bloody nose from hitting the steering wheel after the collisions.

Officers administered a field sobriety test to Chmielinski, who failed and was booked at the LAPD North Hollywood station on charges of driving under the influence.

Residents were stunned to walk out of their homes this morning to find a long skid mark that meanders through one neighborhood off Ventura Boulevard.

"It's awful, you can't park on the streets here anymore," one woman said.

No other injuries were reported.

Chmielinski, 47, is the lead singer of the punk rock group Amen, whose songs include "The Price Of Reality" and "Killing People" in which the words "Helter Skelter" and "Hail Satan" are chanted repeatedly.
