Dee Gordon To Have Thumb Surgery

(CBS/AP) – The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without SS Dee Gordon for about six weeks.

Gordon tore an ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb on Wednesday night sliding headfirst into third base and will have surgery on Friday in Phoenix.

"He's a little scared, a little bummed out,"Don Mattingly said. "I feel bad for the kid. He came in and apologized to me (Wednesday) night. It's just tough. He's going to be fine."

The 24-year-old leads the majors with 30 stolen bases.

Luis Cruz is starting at SS for Los Angeles on Thursday night in Arizona.

Javy Guerra will be activated from the DL to take Gordon's spot on the roster.
