SANTA ANA (CBS) — A former Santa Ana city manager and current councilman was arrested on Monday on multiple felony charges.
KCAL9′s Stacey Butler reports Santa Ana City Councilman Carlos Bustamante was taken into custody on Monday night on his way into the City Council meeting.
Bustamante faces over a dozen felony charges including six felony counts of false imprisonment and assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense.
Bustamante stepped down from his post as executive manager for Orange County Public Works last October after anonymous letters were sent to the Orange County Register alleging he had sexual encounters with four current and former employees in his department.
According to the Register, some of the women were promoted in exchange for sexual favors.
Bustamante denied those allegations at the time.
The writer of the letter also claimed to have “steamy, erotic pictures”, but those photographs never surfaced.
Bustamante has three children with his wife, Adrianna, who is also a schoolteacher.
District Attorney Tony Rackauckas is expected to discuss details of the charges against Bustamante during a news conference on Tuesday.
