LA Mayor Villaraigosa, Longtime Reporter Girlfriend Split

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and his girlfriend of three years have called it quits.

KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta reports the Los Angeles Times first reported the breakup of Villaraigosa and television reporter Lu Parker on Monday after receiving confirmation from Parker's publicist.

"I can confirm that Lu Parker ended her three-year committed relationship with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as of May 25," spokeswoman Juliette Harris told the newspaper.

Parker, a former Miss USA who works for KTLA-TV Channel 5, started dating the mayor in 2009. Villaraigosa's previous affair with a television reporter on Telemundo's Spanish language KVEA-TV Channel 52 led to his divorce in 2007 from then-wife Corina Villaraigosa.

Villaraigosa told an audience at Loyola Marymount University last week that how he handled the breakup of his marriage was his biggest regret as mayor.

Parker, a special assignment reporter at KTLA, founded the Lu Parker Project to help homeless and abused animals and penned "Catching the Crown: The Source for Pageant Competition," a portrait of pageant life with insights from her year as Miss USA in 1994.

It's unclear whether Parker has moved out of Getty House, the mayor's official residence, according to the newspaper.
