LOS ANGELES (CBS) —  A 39-year-old Bay Area man was killed Sunday when his motorcycle rear ended a pickup truck on the San Diego (405) Freeway near LAX, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash, on the northbound freeway, approaching La Tijera Boulevard, was reported to the CHP at 6:42 a.m.

The motorcyclist, a 39-year-old Palo Alto man speeding on a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, rear-ended a 2011 Toyota Tacoma, forcing his bike to spin out of control and hit the center median, where he was ejected, according to a department statement.
