RIVERSIDE (CBS) — A 31-year-old Riverside man was killed by a train as he walked across tracks Sunday, a police spokeswoman said.
Police believe the man failed to see an oncoming train and that he was not trying to harm himself.
The man, identified by the county coroner as Ray Carillo, crossed the tracks at Chicago and Marlborough avenues at about 4 p.m. Saturday just as one train had passed.
Officials believe Carillo simply failed to see a train coming from the opposite direction.
Carillo was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:10, according to the coroner.
