Girls Soccer Coach Arrested For Sexually Assaulting Player,14

ONTARIO (CBS) — A girls soccer coach at an San Bernardino County Christian high school has been arrested for committing lewd acts with a player.

Earl Wayne Gann, 56, was arrested Tuesday morning on two felony counts of lewd acts with a child.

Ontario police began investigating Gann on June 19 after a 14-year-old Ontario Christian High School soccer player told school officials that Gann had sexually assaulted her.

The alleged incident took place on June 15 where Gann is said to have "inappropriately touched and kissed her while she was alone with him in the school's training room," Sgt. David McBride of the Ontario Police Department said.

Gann had been employed as the Junior Varsity girls soccer coach for the 2011-2012 school year, Ontario Christian officials said. Gann has been suspended from all interaction with his former team.

". . . we are deeply saddened by these allegations and our prayers go out to any of our students or any other young people who may have been victimized in any way by Mr. Gann," Superintendent Ryan Groen said.

Prior to his employment at Ontario Christian High School, he coached for several years with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), McBride said.

Detectives believe Gann could have victimized additional players over his coaching career. Anyone with information should call the Ontario Police Department at (909) 395-2949.
