Sex Offender Classified As 'Sexually Violent Predator' Moves To Lucerne Valley

LUCERNE VALLEY (CBS) — Authorities want the public to be aware of a sexually violent predator moving into the neighborhood.

Oscar Jones, 57, became a resident of Lucerne Valley on June 5. Jones has been convicted on three separate occasions for rape, attempted rape, sodomy and kidnapping and was committed to Coalinga State Hospital in 2008 as a mentally disturbed sex offender.

The state Department of Justice classifies Jones as a sexually violent predator. Of the 123,821 registered sex offenders in California, less than 1 percent are deemed sexually violent predators.

San Bernardino Sheriff's officials say Jones, who was recently released without any supervision or electronic monitoring, is not wanted for any crimes and is not on probation or parole.

Sheriff's officials say Jones is a black, 6-foot-3, 205 pounds with a shaved head and brown eyes.
