EL CENTRO (CBS) — A former Southern California elected official allegedly caught on video hitting his stepson has been charged with felony child abuse.
A neighbor of Anthony Sanchez took video of the alleged incident earlier this month.
Imperial County prosecutors filed two counts against Sanchez.
They included corporal injury to a child and child abuse, charges Sanchez’s attorney said were out of proportion.
Sanchez, who had served as Director of the Imperial Irrigation District since 2006, stepped down after the video was posted online.
