CARSON (CBS) — An armed suspect accused of assaulting family members was barricaded Saturday inside a location in Carson, sheriff's officials said.
The sheriff's special weapons team was sent to the 40 block of Camelback South just before 1 p.m. regarding an armed barricaded suspect, according to Sgt. Pauline Panis of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
Family members told deputies the suspect had assaulted them after a dispute, Panis said.
Officials said the suspect has "attempted to shoot multiple times at the sheriff's special weapons team," according to Panis.
As of 8 p.m., the suspect -- described as a male Latino -- was still barricaded inside.
