Bring the entire family and celebrate the beginning of summer
with music, activities and plenty of bargains.
On Sunday, June 24th, 2012, Main Street Santa Monica will be hosting their 12th annual summer SOULstice event, featuring a sidewalk sale and 16 live bands performing on six stages throughout the Main Street business district. This free event is for all ages and offers fun for the entire family, including a kids’ activity area.
Live music begins at 1 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. at various stages along Main Street. Several bands playing rock ‘n’ roll, acoustic, electric and funk will entertain the crowd. Music lovers will be spoiled for choice as they rock out to the tunes of the following bands: Helios Jive, Highway 61 Revisited, The Neil Deal, Cubensis- Grateful Dead Music Tribute, Southbound, Petty Theft, Stone Soul, Bonne Musique Zydeco, The Funky Hippeez, Dr. Wu, Good Cop Bad Cop, Seville Ohio Trio+3, Paul Chesne Band, Texas House Party, Minus Ned, and The Gumbo Brothers.
Great bargains can be had at the giant sidewalk sale on Main Street on both June 23rd and 24th from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Most of the activity will be between Pico and Dewey streets on Main Street. On Saturday the 24th, a Merchant Tent City will be erected on the day of the SOULstice, at the “barcopa” parking lot, across from Wildflour Pizza (2800 Main Street) where event goers can browse through a dozen or so merchant booths.
The kids’ activities area is open from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Hollister, just east of Main Street, where kids can enjoy scaling a rock-climbing wall, bouncing off the walls in the bounce house and exploring a SMFD Fire Truck and SMPD talking police car. Games and other activities will also be available.
Hint: The best bet for parking is to park in the Civic Center lot off Pico/Main Street and walk a bit. Kick-off your summer with a bang and enjoy the longest day of the year at Main Street’s Summer SOULstice.
